At the request of a board member (thanks Kirine), I've added a Science Fiction forum. This could be for book reviews and recommendations, movies, TV series and so on. I will be monitoring usage over time and if it really drops off I will move posts back into "Stuff".
I'd been hunting around for suitable banners for the links section over the last few days, and by what appears to be sheer coincidence, I received an email from Eve Online this morning about a 14 day trial. The url the Eve banners link to is therefore for that trial. I'll probably try it myself as we need some new reviews!
This is not a male bashing site, but simply a place for women with interests unusual for their sex (e.g. EQ among other things) to meet up and have some mature discussions. We have three members only forums, one of which also admits men - for more information about this please look at this thread.
Topics relating to Barbie, sewing, housework or anything resembling fluffy kittens are not allowed 8P.
We moved from Ezboard some time ago now. It turned out to be just in time as EzBoard itself was severly hacked not long ago. This resulted in the loss of the huge "Shall we play a game?" thread, as that was the one thread I was unable to migrate to phpbb.
I left a forum for people to post to if they have problems getting their account activated on this board, and also tend to post there if this site is down or experiencing difficulties of some kind.
To apply for access to Halfway House and Common House, all you basicly have to do is
Click on the little Usergroups icon at the top of the board
Select the forum you wish to apply to
Click the Join button!
If you meet the requirements (listed below) an administrator will grant you access, and you will receive an email automatically if you are accepted. If we cannot grant you access yet because you don't meet the requirements you don't get an automatic email, but if we think you could do with more information we will email you to tell you why specificly you didn't manage to get in this time (it's usually you just haven't been around long enough yet).
Halfway House
Rules of Admittance to Women Only area :
You must have been a registered member of the board for at least two weeks.
Your post count should be around the 20-25 mark. Note that testing your sig and simple "hug" or "lol" type posts will not be considered in that count. Fewer posts may be considered if you are sponsored by an existing board member (for example someone who has known you a long time in game or a real life friend)
If a mod thinks that you need to remain the public areas a bit longer then it is their right to do so. Automatically reaching the requirements does not automatically entitle you to admittance.
These rules are intended to ensure that you are starting to become familiar with and to your fellow posters at EQ Women, and to serve as a deterant to message board trolls.
Common House(Men and Women welcome)
A post count of 75 is now required for application to common house.CLARIFICATION: common house was created with our male readers specifically in mind as they had no where to post in a private forum. The forum is harder to get into than halfway house and if your post count is lower than at LEAST 75 (not including testing sigs or fluff type posts) it's not likely you will have yet garnered the trust the people voting will require. The exact post count requirement is still under discussion in common house but the poll results so far indicate that 75 is the minimum suggested by most, and many want higher.
Once you post for access, a poll will be added to common house with the options "thumbs up" or "not yet". NO negative comments will be allowed on that poll and if anyone has serious objections they will have to email an admin with good reasons why they are worried (I dont like so and so is not good enough). You will have to wait a few days to give people time to see the poll, and if there are no objections you should have access within the week. If you DONT get access you will be told, and you can apply again when you have posted a bit more so people have become a bit more familiar with you.
CLARIFICATION: The "not yet" votes indicate that some people do not feel they really know you and your posting style that well yet, NOT that they dont like you! You need a 2/3 thumbs up vote to get in, and your poll will be left in a special voting forum that everyone else with common house access can see, for about a week. At the end of that time if you still dont have enough "thumbs up" you will be emailed and the poll will be removed. You WILL be able to apply again after a while (you can decide for yourself how long but I suggest that you wait at least 2 weeks as its unlikely that people who didnt feel they knew you well enough before will change their minds overnight).
If anyone has emailed admins with serious objections we will also inform you and the small number of concerned parties (you, the admins and whoever has the objections) will have to see if anything can be worked out at that point - though it must be said that the admins have no desire to become some kind of counselling service for troubled relationships!
